If you're a resale shop, consignment store, or dealer running an always-open inventory, use shop mode. No sale dates. No time limits. Just ongoing inventory.

What is shop mode?

Shop mode is for businesses with permanent locations and constantly changing inventory. Instead of posting time-limited sales (Saturday 9am–1pm), you post your store and refresh inventory as items sell and new ones arrive.

Example: StyleCycle Consignment is open Mon–Sat, 10am–6pm, year-round. New items arrive daily. Shop mode lets them post "StyleCycle Consignment — Women's fashion, home goods, shoes" once and update the item list indefinitely.

Another example: Vintage & Rare Collectibles buys and sells antiques. Inventory changes weekly. Shop mode means one listing that stays current, no need to create new "sales" every week.

How shop mode works

Standard sale mode (time-limited):

  • Create a sale
  • Set sale date and hours
  • Post items
  • Sale ends (you mark it complete or date passes)
  • Items are archived
  • For next sale, you create a brand-new listing

Shop mode (ongoing):

  • Create a sale (no date — just your store name)
  • Post items
  • Items stay live indefinitely
  • Update inventory whenever you want (add new items, remove sold ones)
  • No need to create new sales
  • Shoppers always see your current inventory

Enabling shop mode

Shop mode is available on Pro and Teams plans.

  1. Go to Settings → Shop Mode (or "Advanced settings").
  2. Toggle "Enable shop mode" on.
  3. Create your shop listing with:

- **Store name** (what shoppers see: "Vintage & Rare," "Main Street Antiques," etc.) - **Address** (your physical location or "Online only" if you ship) - **Hours** (when you're open: e.g., "Mon–Sat 10am–6pm") - **Description** (2–3 sentences about your inventory: "Vintage furniture, mid-century décor, collectible glassware")

  1. Click "Create shop." You now have a permanent storefront.

Managing shop inventory

Adding items:

  1. Click "Add item" (same as a time-limited sale).
  2. Upload a photo, enter name, price, condition.
  3. Click "Save." The item goes live immediately.

Removing items:

  1. Click the item and select "Mark as sold" or "Remove from shop."
  2. It disappears from your listing.

Updating items:

  • Prices: Change anytime without creating a new item
  • Photos: Add multiple photos per item
  • Condition: Update if something gets damaged or repaired

Batch updates:

  • Add 50 new items from an estate liquidation you just bought
  • Remove 20 sold items from last week
  • No need to create a new sale — just update your current shop inventory

Shop mode vs. time-limited sales

| Feature | Shop Mode | Time-Limited Sale | |---------|-----------|-------------------| | Inventory stays live | Indefinitely | Until sale ends | | You set an end date | No | Yes | | Best for | Permanent stores, consignment | Garage sales, estate sales, auctions | | Inventory management | Update ongoing | Update during sale, then close | | Shoppers expect | Always-open store | One-time event |

What shoppers see

Shoppers visiting your shop see:

  • Your store name and address
  • Hours (Mon–Sat, 10am–6pm)
  • All items in your current inventory
  • **No sale end date** — shoppers understand this is an ongoing store

If you're online-only, shoppers see:

  • Your shop name
  • "Ships nationwide" or your shipping policy
  • Current inventory
  • No location visit required

Pricing strategy for shop mode

Fixed pricing: Set prices and update when inventory changes or you want to adjust.

Discount older inventory: Reduce prices on items that have been in stock for 30, 60, 90+ days to encourage sales.

Seasonal pricing: Higher prices on demand items (holiday décor in November, summer furniture in May).

Consignment pricing: Markup items based on what they cost you (cost + 40%, cost + 100%, etc.).

Common questions

Can I use shop mode and time-limited sales at the same time?

No. You either run a permanent shop or post time-limited sales. Pick one based on your business model. (Contact support if you want both.)

What if I want to close my shop for the holidays?

You can mark the shop as "temporarily closed" or just stop adding new items and remove old ones. Your shop page stays up but with no inventory.

Can I offer local pickup and nationwide shipping from the same shop?

Yes. Note in your shop description: "Local pickup available [address]. Ships nationwide." Mention it in individual item descriptions too.

Do I have to update inventory daily?

No. Update whenever you want. If items sit in inventory, that's fine — shoppers are used to browsing stores with older stock.

Can I set different prices for online and in-store?

Not automatically. Pick one price per item. If you want to offer online-only discounts, create separate online listings.

What if I'm a consignment shop and need to track consignor payouts?

Shop mode handles inventory. For consignor accounting, use your own system or accounting software. You'll need to manage that separately.

Can I sell some items online-only (not in my physical store)?

Yes. Just post them in shop mode. In the description, note "Online exclusive" or "Available for shipping only." Or use two separate listings.

How do I know which items are selling?

Go to Analytics (available on Pro and Teams). You'll see which items get viewed, clicked, and marked as sold. Inventory that doesn't move can be repriced or removed.

Can I see which shoppers bought from me?

No. Shop mode shows anonymized sales data. You won't know who bought what unless they message you or you see receipts at the register.

What happens if I turn off shop mode?

Your shop listing and items are archived. If you turn it back on, you'd need to create a new shop and re-list items. (Backup your item list before turning it off.)

Shop mode best practices

Keep inventory fresh:

  • Add new items weekly to keep shoppers coming back
  • Remove sold items promptly so shoppers see accurate availability
  • Refresh photos occasionally if stock rotates

Write good descriptions:

  • Material (wood, leather, ceramic)
  • Era or style (mid-century, art deco, bohemian)
  • Condition (excellent, good, fair, shows wear)
  • Size and dimensions for furniture
  • Any damage or defects

Set competitive prices:

  • Research what similar items sell for elsewhere
  • Don't overprice vintage or unique items
  • Consider your target customer (budget shopper vs. collector)

Promote off-peak items:

  • Bundle slow-moving items
  • Offer discounts on older inventory
  • Highlight new arrivals in descriptions

Engage with shoppers:

  • Respond quickly to questions
  • Offer to hold items or do local pickups
  • Build relationships with regular customers
