Post a Haul: Show Off What You Found

For ShoppersUpdated May 10, 2026
All guides

A haul is a photo post of the items you bought at a sale. It's how you share your finds with the FindA.Sale community, earn XP, get feedback, and connect with other shoppers.

What is a haul?

A haul is one or more photos of items you purchased, plus a caption describing what you found and why you loved it. That's it. You can post:

  • A single item that's special (a vintage piece, a rare find, something unusual)
  • A pile of items from one sale or outing
  • A series of photos showing each item
  • Close-ups of condition, details, or maker's marks

Hauls are casual — they're not professional product photos. They're your genuine finds.

Why post a haul?

**You earn 50 XP per haul.** That's a solid chunk of weekly XP for something you were going to take a photo of anyway.

**Other shoppers see what's out there.** Your haul post shows other hunters what deals exist at certain sales or in your area. You help them decide where to go.

**You build credibility.** Shoppers with lots of haul posts and high engagement are seen as experienced hunters. Your posts count toward achievements and Hall of Fame eligibility.

**You get feedback and tips.** Other shoppers might comment with restoration tips, pricing info, or their own finds from the same sale.

**You connect with your crew.** If you're in a crew, your hauls are highlighted in the crew feed. Crew members comment and celebrate your finds.

How to post a haul

From a sale detail page: After you buy something, the app asks "Post a haul?" A quick button tap takes you to the haul composer.

From your profile: Tap the "+" icon next to your haul collection and select "New haul post."

From the community feed: Tap "Compose" and select "Haul post."

Once you're in the composer:

  1. **Add photos.** Take new photos or select from your camera roll. You can add up to 9 photos per haul. Arrange them in the order you want.
  1. **Write a caption.** Describe what you bought, where, and why it's cool. Keep it real. Examples:

- "Found this gorgeous oak dresser at an estate sale for $45. Needs refinishing but the dovetail drawers are solid." - "Yard sale haul: Pyrex bowls, vintage kitchen gadgets, and a turntable that actually works. Total spent: $28." - "Auctions are unpredictable. Grabbed this set of Mid-century dining chairs for $120. They clean up beautifully."

  1. **Tag your sale (optional).** If the app knows which sale you visited, it'll suggest the tag. Tagging helps other shoppers find posts from specific sales.
  1. **Tag your crew (optional).** If you're in a crew, you can tag them so they see it in the crew feed first.
  1. **Post.** Hit "Share" and your haul goes live. You earn the XP immediately.

What makes a good haul post

**Clear photos.** Good lighting. You can see the items clearly. If it's a treasure pile, a wide shot works. If it's a single piece, close-ups of details and condition matter.

**Honest caption.** Don't oversell. "Found this 1950s sideboard at a flea market for $75. Has minor veneer damage on the left side but the inside is clean" beats "STUNNING PIECE YOU WONT BELIEVE THE PRICE."

**Context.** Where did you find it? How much did you spend? What will you do with it? Other shoppers eat this stuff up.

**Engagement.** Once you post, check back. Reply to comments. If someone asks a question, answer it. High-engagement posts get boosted in feeds.

Common mistakes to avoid

**Don't post blurry photos.** If you can't see what you bought, the haul post won't help anyone.

**Don't post items you didn't actually buy.** Haul posts are for real purchases. Wishlist items or things you saw but passed on don't count.

**Don't be vague.** "Got some stuff" is boring. Tell the story. "$15 for all of this at a Saturday yard sale in my neighborhood" is better.

**Don't post the same items twice.** If you posted something last week, don't repost it this week. The algorithm catches duplicates.

Haul streaks and challenges

Some months FindA.Sale runs haul challenges: "Post a haul every day for a week" or "Post hauls from 5 different sale types." Completing a challenge earns bonus XP or coupons.

If you post regularly, you can build a haul streak. Streaks reset if you miss a day but rebuild quickly.

Hall of Fame opportunities

The best haul posts get featured in the monthly Hall of Fame. Featured hauls get:

  • 200 XP bonus
  • A "Featured" badge on your profile
  • Boosted visibility (more shoppers see your post)
  • Bragging rights

Posts that get featured usually have:

  • High-quality photos
  • Interesting or rare finds
  • Engaging captions that tell a story
  • Strong community engagement (lots of likes and comments)

Privacy and your posts

Your haul posts are public by default. Other shoppers can like, comment, and share them. If you post from a sale, the sale organizer can see your haul post too — many organizers use shopper posts as free advertising.

You can delete a haul post anytime from your profile.
