Walk a Treasure Trail (multi-sale routing)
A treasure trail is a curated route through multiple sales in one area. Walk a trail and you'll hit 3–5 sales in the most efficient order, earn bonus XP at each stop, and discover sales you might have missed.
What is a treasure trail?
A treasure trail is basically a guided shopping route. Someone (a crew, an experienced shopper, or FindA.Sale staff) picks 3–5 nearby sales and chains them together with directions and timing. You follow the route on sale day, check in at each stop, and get bonus XP and sometimes extra perks.
Example trail: "Saturday Morning Estate Sales in Riverside County"
- Stop 1: The Miller Estate Sale (9 AM start)
- Stop 2: Riverside Flea Market (11 AM)
- Stop 3: Neighborhood Yard Sale Cluster (1 PM)
- Stop 4: Antique Mall and Consignment (3 PM)
The app gives you the route, directions, estimated travel time, and a checklist of stops.
Why walk a trail?
You earn bonus XP: 30 XP per trail completion. Check in at each stop and you hit the milestone. On a big sale day, you could walk 2–3 trails and earn an extra 60–90 XP.
You discover new sales: Most trails include at least one sale you probably didn't know about. You expand your hunting territory.
You hunt efficiently: Instead of scrolling a map and planning, the trail does it for you. You know where to go, when, and in what order.
It's a social thing: Trails are great for crews. Walk together, split the driving, celebrate finds.
Treasure trails earn achievements: Complete 10 trails in a month and you unlock an achievement. Complete 50 and you get a "Trail Blazer" badge.
How to find trails
From the Trails tab: Trails are organized by date and location. You'll see upcoming trails for your area (based on your location or saved hunting zones).
Search by:
- Location (city, neighborhood)
- Sale type (estate sales, yard sale clusters, auctions, flea markets)
- Difficulty (beginner, intermediate, advanced trails)
- Season (weekend trails, weekday trails, holiday trails)
Filter by your preferences:
- How far you're willing to drive
- How many stops you want (3, 4, or 5)
- Estimated time commitment
Walking a trail
Before you go:
- Tap the trail to see the full route, all stops, and details
- Save it to your calendar if you want a reminder
- Share with your crew if you're going together
- Check each sale's hours — some might have limited time
On the day:
- Start at the first stop (the trail tells you the recommended time)
- Check in using the app (tap "Check in at Stop 1")
- Hunt and buy whatever you want
- When you leave, tap "Complete Stop 1" in the app
- The app gives you directions to Stop 2, how long it'll take, and when you should arrive
- Repeat for all stops
Timing matters: The trail builder estimates how long you should spend at each stop. You don't have to follow it exactly — if you find a goldmine at Stop 1, stay longer. Just know you might get to Stop 4 later than planned.
Trail types
Crew trails: A crew creates and hosts a trail. Only crew members can walk it. These are fun because everyone's hunting together.
Public trails: FindA.Sale or local shoppers post trails anyone can walk. These are usually popular routes that work well week after week.
Expert trails: Complex routes (5+ stops, multiple hours, lesser-known sales). Only for shoppers with high ranks or trail-walking achievements.
Seasonal trails: Weekend trails, holiday trails, clearance trails. These are temporary and last only as long as the sales do.
Creating your own trail
If you and your crew discover a killer route, you can create a trail and share it:
- Go to Trails → "Create a trail"
- Name it (e.g., "South County Furniture Hunt")
- Add the sales (search by name or location)
- Set the order and estimated time at each stop
- Add a description (what to expect, best times to go, parking tips)
- Set it to public or private (crew-only)
- Publish
Once published, other shoppers can discover and walk your trail. Every time someone completes your trail, you get XP and it helps raise your reputation.
Trail badges and achievements
Trail Walker: Walk 5 trails → 100 XP badge
Trail Scout: Walk 20 trails → 250 XP badge
Trail Blazer: Walk 50 trails or create 5 trails → 500 XP badge + "Expert" title on your profile
Legendary Guide: Create 10 trails that 100+ people walk each → Rare achievement
Trail leaderboards
Popular trails have leaderboards. The top walkers of the month get their names and profiles listed on the trail page. Some very popular trails have regional competitions.
Tips for successful trails
Go early: If a trail is popular, the best stuff gets claimed first. Show up early.
Plan for flexibility: Trails are guides, not scripts. If you find something amazing at Stop 2 and want to spend extra time, do it.
Bring a crew: Trails are more fun with friends. You can share findings, help each other spot good deals, and celebrate together.
Visit less obvious sales: The best trails mix well-known sales with smaller, neighborhood yard sales. Don't skip Stop 3 just because it's not famous.
Leave feedback: After you walk a trail, rate it and leave a comment. Was it efficient? Did you find great stuff? Other shoppers use this feedback to decide which trails to walk.
