The promote page: share your sale on 8 platforms
The promote page generates ready-to-post content for Facebook, Instagram, Nextdoor, X/Twitter, Reddit, email, text message, and a print card — all from your sale details. Open it once, customize the text if you want, and share directly or copy the pre-filled posts into each platform. This guide walks through every tab and gives you timing guidelines for each channel.
---
How to open the promote page
From your organizer dashboard, tap the **Share your sale** banner at the top. Or go directly to /organizer/promote. Your sale must be in Published or Upcoming status for the promote page to show share content.
---
What the promote page includes
The promote page has three sections: **Social Posts**, **Direct Share**, and **Spotlight**.
Social Posts tab
This tab shows pre-filled text for each platform. The text pulls from your sale name, dates, address, and featured categories. You can edit it before you copy or share.
**How to customize:**
- Tap the platform you want (Facebook, Instagram, Nextdoor, X/Twitter, Reddit)
- Read the pre-filled post in the text box
- Edit anything you want — add a specific item, change the tone, shorten it
- Tap **Copy** to copy to clipboard, then paste it into the platform
- Or tap **Share** on mobile to open the platform's share sheet directly
The pre-filled text is a starting point. It is not wrong to use it as-is, but adding one specific detail ("we have a full bedroom set in excellent condition") makes the post more clickable.

Direct Share tab
This tab has two options: **Email** and **Text**.
**Email** generates a short message you can send to anyone on your contact list. It includes the sale name, dates, and a link to your FindA.Sale listing. Tap **Open in email app** and your device opens a compose window with the text pre-loaded. Add recipients and send.
**Text** generates a short SMS-ready message. Tap **Copy** and paste it into any text message thread. Useful for sending to regular customers, neighbors, or anyone who has bought from you before.
---
Spotlight tab
Spotlight submits your sale for featured placement in the FindA.Sale feed. Featured sales appear at the top of the discovery feed for shoppers browsing in your area.
To submit for Spotlight:
- Open the Spotlight tab
- Review your sale preview card — this is what shoppers see in the feed
- Tap **Submit for Spotlight**
Spotlight availability depends on your plan. Check /organizer/promote for current availability.

Timing guidelines by platform
Posting at the right time makes a real difference. Here is what works best for secondary sales:
| Platform | Best timing | Why | |----------|-------------|-----| | Facebook | 3 days before opening | People plan weekend trips in advance. Post Thursday for a Saturday sale. | | Nextdoor | 5 days before opening | Nextdoor has lower volume so posts stay visible longer. Earlier posting gets more views. | | Instagram | Day before (Stories) | Stories are ephemeral. A day-before Story creates urgency without getting buried. | | X/Twitter | Day of opening | Short shelf life. Post the morning your sale starts. | | Reddit | 3–4 days before | Local subreddits (r/yourcity) allow sale posts. Enough lead time for comments and questions. | | Email | Day of opening | Email sent the morning of the sale reaches people while they are planning their day. | | Text | Day before or morning of | Personal channel. Keep it short and send only to people who have asked to hear from you. |

The print card
At the bottom of the promote page, there is a **Print Card** option. This generates a half-page printable card with your sale details and QR code. Use it for:
- Leaving a stack at a coffee shop counter
- Pinning to a bulletin board when you only have one sheet
- Handing to a neighbor who asks about the sale
Download the PDF from the promote page and print at home or at any copy shop.

Common questions
**Can I post to all platforms at once?**
Not automatically. Each platform has different formatting and character limits, so the promote page optimizes each post separately. Copy and post to each platform individually — it takes about 5 minutes total.
**What if my sale details change after I post?**
Update your sale listing. The FindA.Sale link in your posts always points to your current listing, so shoppers who click the link see the updated information. The pre-filled text you already posted stays as-is, but the destination is always current.
**Do I have to use the pre-filled text?**
No. It is a starting point. Edit freely. If you delete something by accident, close and reopen the tab — the original text reloads.
**Can I reshare the same post?**
Yes. For Facebook and Nextdoor, resharing or commenting on your own post the day before your sale bumps it back to the top of people's feeds without requiring a new post.
**Does the promote page work for all sale types?**
Yes — yard sales, auctions, flea market booths, consignment events, and estate sales all use the same promote page. The pre-filled text adapts to your sale type.
**What is the difference between the promote page and share cards?**
The promote page generates text posts and handles sharing. Share cards (on the Print & Share tab) generate image cards you can post alongside your text. Image posts perform better in most local groups. Use both.
