Surprise Me, Trending, and the Inspiration Feed
Not sure what you're hunting for, or just want to scroll for ideas? The home screen has three ways to discover deals without searching by category or location.
How it works
**Surprise Me** — Tap the dice icon and get a random item from an upcoming sale. Useful when you're browsing but don't have a specific target. Tap it again for another random item. Some items are marked as "Staff Picks" from organizers.
**Trending** — Shows items with activity in the last 24 hours. Activity means holds placed, comments, or a price drop. These items are moving—if you like them, don't wait.
**Inspiration Feed** — Newly listed items, refreshed hourly. It's a "what just dropped" view. Great for habit-breaking finds: mid-century furniture, vintage toys, local antiques, indie brand clothing.
When to use each
Use Surprise Me if: You have time to kill and want randomness. You're not hunting for anything specific but open to whatever surfaces.
Use Trending if: You want popular items that others are looking at. Activity usually means good quality or a great price.
Use Inspiration Feed if: You want to see the newest listings first. You're willing to browse and refresh. You like first-pick advantage—new items sell fast.
Tips
- **Set your filters before browsing** — Before you tap Surprise Me or scroll the Inspiration Feed, set your location and distance preferences. The app will only show items from sales you've filtered to.
- **Save as you go** — Heart items you like, even if you're not ready yet. You can review your wishlist later and plan a route.
- **Check the organizer** — Tap the organizer name above any item to see their profile. If they run sales regularly, follow them.
- **Watch the timestamps** — On the Inspiration Feed, the "listed X hours ago" shows how fresh the item is. Listed 30 minutes ago? It's probably still available.
Common questions
Can I customize what Surprise Me shows me?
Yes. Before tapping Surprise Me, go to your filters and set sale type, location, and distance. Surprise Me will respect those filters.
Why is the same item showing up in Trending and the Inspiration Feed?
Because it's both newly listed and getting activity. That usually means it's a good find—consider placing a hold.
Can I turn off the Inspiration Feed if I don't want to be tempted?
You can remove it from your home screen, but the feature itself isn't toggleable. Just avoid that tab if you're on a budget.
How often does the Inspiration Feed update?
Roughly every hour, but items can be added throughout the day. Refresh the page to see the latest.
Does Surprise Me ever repeat items?
Yes, eventually. The pool is all upcoming sales in your area. If you keep tapping, you might see the same item twice, especially in smaller markets.
