Affiliate links: track sales you promote

For OrganizersWritten guide

If you promote your sales on more than one platform — Nextdoor, Facebook, email, Instagram — affiliate links tell you which one is actually driving traffic. You generate a unique link for each source, share it, and the dashboard tracks what happens when people click.

---

What affiliate links do

An affiliate link is a standard FindA.Sale sale URL with a tracking tag attached. When someone clicks your link, FindA.Sale records the click and follows what happens next: did they view the sale, place a hold, or complete a purchase?

The link lands shoppers on the same sale page they would see from any other path. Nothing looks different to them. The tracking is invisible.

What you see in your dashboard:

  • **Click count** — how many times the link was clicked
  • **Conversion to views** — how many clicks resulted in someone actually viewing the sale listing
  • **Holds placed** — how many holds originated from that link
  • **Purchases** — completed transactions traced back to that link

This tells you, concretely, whether your Nextdoor post outperformed your Facebook event or whether your email list is driving real traffic or just clicks that bounce.

---

How to generate a link

  1. Go to [/organizer/affiliate](/organizer/affiliate).
  2. Select the sale you want to track.
  3. Enter a label for the source — something like "nextdoor-june14" or "facebook-group" or "email-newsletter." This label appears in your dashboard so you can tell the links apart.
  4. Tap **Generate Link**.
  5. Copy the link and paste it wherever you are promoting the sale.

You can generate multiple links for the same sale — one per platform. Each tracks independently.

---

Where to use it

Anywhere you promote the sale:

  • Your Nextdoor post about the upcoming sale
  • A Facebook event or group post
  • Your email newsletter
  • A text to your regular shoppers
  • An Instagram story with a link in bio
  • A Google Business post if you have a listing

The more places you post, the more useful the comparison data becomes.

---

What the dashboard shows

After the sale closes, affiliate data stays available for 30 days. During the sale and while holds are active, you can check the dashboard in real time.

Go to [/organizer/affiliate](/organizer/affiliate) → select the sale → select the link. You will see click totals, conversion rates, and transaction data broken out by source.

If one link drove most of your holds, that tells you where to focus your promotion energy for the next sale.

---

What affiliate links do not do

These links track your own promotion activity. They are not a third-party affiliate commission program — there is no payout to external promoters or bloggers who send traffic your way. If you want to set up something like that, contact FindA.Sale directly.

The link does not change the shopper experience. Shoppers see the same page, same price, same hold flow. No upsell, no redirect, no extra step.

Clicks from someone refreshing the page multiple times count as one click per session, not multiple.

Common questions

**Do I need to label each link?** Yes. Without a label, all your links look the same in the dashboard and you cannot tell which source drove what. Use short, clear labels: "nextdoor", "fb-event", "email-jun14".

**Can I use the same link for multiple sales?** No. Each link is tied to one specific sale. Generate a new link for each sale on each platform.

**Does this work for in-person sales too?** Yes. You can print a QR code that encodes your affiliate link and post it on signage near your sale. Any smartphone scan tracks as a click.

**What if I forget to use affiliate links for a sale?** Your standard sale URL still works fine — you just will not have source-level breakdown data. You can start using affiliate links on any future sale.

**Is there a limit to how many links I can generate?** No limit per sale or per account.
