Trending items, Surprise Me, and the inspiration feed
# Trending Items, Surprise Me, and the Inspiration Feed
Not sure what you're looking for today? These three features are built for browsing without a goal. Open the app, start scrolling, and see what pulls you in.
---
Trending items
The trending section on the homepage shows items with recent activity — saves, views, and holds across all active sales near you.
When an item is trending, people are paying attention to it. That usually means the price is right, the condition is good, or it's just unusual enough that people keep tapping it.
Trending items move fast. If you see something you want, save it now and decide later.
---
Surprise Me
Tap the Surprise Me button and you'll get a random active sale within your current distance setting.
It's good for when you have a free hour and no agenda. You might land on a flea market you've never heard of, a consignment event in a neighborhood you don't usually go to, or a yard sale with a specific theme.
Tap it again and you'll get a different sale. Keep tapping if nothing clicks.
Surprise Me respects your filters. If you've set your distance to 15 miles or filtered to estate sales only, Surprise Me will stay inside those bounds.

Category pages
From the home menu, tap Categories. You'll see the full list: Furniture, Clothing, Electronics, Books, Tools, Toys, Collectibles, Kitchenware, and more.
Tap a category to see items from that category across all active sales near you. Sort by price, distance, or how recently the item was listed.
Good for: "I need a dresser" or "I'm buying all the vintage cookware I can carry."

The inspiration feed on the homepage
The homepage feed shows items based on what you've been saving and searching. If you've been saving mid-century furniture and searching for vinyl records, the feed will surface more of that — without you having to search again.
It's personalized based on your save history and past search activity. Browse, heart what you like, and the feed gets sharper over time.
No two shoppers see the same homepage. A shopper who saves kitchen items sees kitchenware. A shopper who hunts vintage clothing sees racks and bins.

When to use each
**Trending** — You want to see what's popular right now. You trust that if other people are looking at something, it's worth a second look.
**Surprise Me** — You have time to kill. You want to find something you wouldn't have searched for. You like spontaneous shopping.
**Categories** — You have a specific type of item in mind but not a specific sale. You want to shop the category across all nearby sales at once.
**Inspiration feed** — You want to scroll based on your own taste. You've been using the app for a while and want the homepage to reflect what you care about.

Common questions
**Q: Can I adjust what shows up in my inspiration feed?** Browse, save items, and search — those signals shape the feed. The more you use the app, the more relevant it gets. You can reset it by clearing your save history in Settings > Privacy.
**Q: Does Surprise Me repeat sales?** Sometimes. If you've tapped through everything in your area, it may cycle back. Expand your distance filter or try a different day when more sales are active.
**Q: How often does Trending update?** Roughly every few hours. Saves and holds from the last 24 hours factor into what's trending.
**Q: Can I browse a category and filter by distance?** Yes. On any category page, tap Filter and set your distance. The category page will only show items from sales within that range.
**Q: Why does the same item show up in Trending and my feed?** Because you've engaged with similar items before and this one is also getting activity. That combination usually means it's worth a closer look.
